Can we stop the spread of Influenza...

This way of preventing an Influenza pandemic doesn’t rely on advances in technology and medicine very much, but instead hygiene and organisation.

...In Livestock?
The idea of stopping the spread of influenza through livestock is already happening in some but not all parts of the world. Antigenic shift happens in large populations of livestock, especially birds, and this causes Influenza pandemics. If we can stop from spreading in the livestock, then we can potentially stop antigenic shift and Influenza pandemics.
This is quite simple; all that is needed is to give the livestock a form of Influenza vaccine. It may be simple but it is quite expensive and farmers cannot afford this in countries that aren’t first world. This makes this method ineffective because it is needed if all livestock is vaccinated and not just some.

...In Humans?
If everyone follows simple good hygiene then we can slow down the spread of Influenza and possibly even stop it. Having good hygiene includes: covering up coughs and sneezes, disposing of things like tissues properly, washing hands regularly (after and before meals, after coughing or sneezing) with soap and avoiding touching the eyes and mouth as much as possible. Simple good hygiene cannot be underestimated in stopping the spread of Influenza.
Also social distancing can slow down the spread of Influenza. Social distancing includes things like travelling less, working at home, reducing time spent in large crowds and staying a metre away from people showing flu like symptoms.
If everyone followed this then we would dramatically reduce the spread of Influenza through humans and even possibly stop it.
